Juicing Review and Weight Loss
I am not a big proponent of juicing but I do believe it can complement a healthful diet. The Standard American Diet is so bad that juicing is an improvement upon this.
Benefits of Juicing
Here are some reason that juicing might be helpful to your heath.
- Juicing can help you absorb the nutrients from the vegetables since many of us have impaired digestion through years of bad eating.
- Not many of us get the recommended amount of vegetables in our diet so juicing allows us to consume more vegetables in an easy manner.
- Many of us tend to eat the same vegetable again and again so juicing encourages us to consume a wider variety of vegetables.
Problems with Fruit Juicing
Where people go wrong is they mix fruits into their juicing. Fruits contain fructose which can only be processed in the liver. This will be converted directly into fat if you have an excess(triglycerides). When you eat whole fruit absorption is delayed because of the fiber. You also tend to eat only one fruit at a time. One the other hand fruit juice can contain many fruits and there is no fiber to slow down the absorption. Animals use fruit to fatten up for the winter. That should tell you something.
My Thoughts on Juicing
I do think that juicing is an improvement on the Standard American Diet. So if you are doing this to get a jump start on a diet program this is probably ok. If you are doing this as a regular part of your lifestyle I recommend you avoid the fruit. Also, if you are already fairly healthy and want to improve your nutrient intake stick to vegetables. I personally use fasting on a regular basis to control my hormones. The most important hormone you want to control is insulin. As long as you can keep that in check most everything else in the metabolic syndrome falls into place.
