Alpha lipoic acid(ALA)  protects cells and neurons involved in hormone production. This offers protection against diabetes. ALA is considered an effective drug in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.ALA  improves insulin sensitivity. Studies have shown that ALA can help lower blood sugar levels.
