What is a vegan Ft Collins?
The easiest way to describe a vegetarian is a person who eats a diet free of meat, fish, and fowl flesh. But there are a variety of types of vegetarians these days. You have Lacto-ovo vegetarians, who avoid animal flesh but eat eggs and milk products. On the extreme end, you have vegans, who don’t eat any animal-based products, including honey. This lifestyle is not very healthy because it lacks certain vitamins and proteins that our body requires from animal sources.
What nutrients do vegans lack
There is a high risk of vitamin B12 deficiencies in vegetarians and vegans. Methylcobalamin( B12) is found naturally only in animal products. Anemia and blindness can result from a lack of vitamin B12. Other symptoms include muscle weakness, tingling, and numbness. Vegans need to take B12 supplements in order to have sufficient levels. Unfortunately, B12 is a water-soluble vitamin and the body does not store this. You can learn a lot more about B 12 here. Other nutrients vegans lack are zinc, calcium, riboflavin, and iron.
Why IV therapy for vitamin replacement
When we consume supplements we are only getting 20-30% of the vitamins through the gut wall. Also with our nutrient-depleted soils the vegetables and fruits we eat today do not have the nutrient density that they had 100 years ago. Then there are those people who have chronic diseases that have a tough time absorbing nutrients period because of their chronic inflammation. I would say I eat a diet that is heavily tilted toward vegetables, but I do rely on organic, humanely treated meat sources for many essential vitamins. I also get a Myers Vitamin IV infusion once a month.
